Update from 18 November 2025:

The Magic: The Gathering roadshow through ten German universities is running right now, with Goethe-Universität Frankfurt today and Universität Tübingen coming next. GamesMarkt has been on site yesterday at the University of Applied Sciences Munich (Hochschule München) event, where 300 students tried out playing the TCG, raffled for prizes and informed themselves about forming a university club. The Munich, Frankfurt and Tübingen events are held in cooperation with contractor CampusDirect, part of the tour is also a rotating host by WotC partner Ultimate Guard. At the Munich event, said host was content creator and MTG streamer Svenja71h. A representative of Wizards of the Coast Germany was also present.

In founding a university club, students can rise through several ranks in WotC's system to get starter packs, play boosters and additional material like sleeves directly from the publisher for their club play sessions. An especially motivating factor for founding is that these ranks also bring with them personalised rewards for the founding persons, encouraging proactive recruitment.

Original from 10 November 2025:

Starting in November 2025, Magic: The Gathering clubs at universities in Germany and Austria will benefit from a new initiative by publisher Wizards of the Coast (WotC).

Crucially, the Spandau-based influencer marketing agency INSTINCT3 is supporting the project and is heavily involved in its implementation and vision.

As part of a pilot project, WotC supports students in building their card game communities with products and knowledge transfer. To kick things off, there will be a roadshow with ten stops in German cities, including Berlin, Leipzig, Tübingen, Hamburg, Munich, and Bochum. At each stop, there will be first-hand information on how to become part of the Magic: The Gathering Club Founder Program, as well as the opportunity to learn how to play the game. The first date of the roadshow takes place today, on 10 November, at Technical University Berlin.

Here's the full list of roadshow dates:

  • 10.11.2025 – TU Berlin
  • 11.11.2025 – Universität Leipzig
  • 12.11.2025 – Universität Kiel
  • 13.11.2025 – Universität Hamburg
  • 17.11.2025 – Hochschule München
  • 18.11.2025 – Goethe-Universität Frankfurt
  • 20.11.2025 – Universität Tübingen
  • 24.11.2025 – TH Aachen
  • 25.11.2025 – Ruhr-Universität Bochum
  • 26.11.2025 – Leibniz Universität Hannover

Clubs can submit their application for the project from 01 December 2025 onward through the MTG Uni website. For now, the program is supposed to run until end of November 2026.
