Deck13 and Focus/Pullup Entertainment announce a big free update for DCP nominee Atlas Fallen, going live 6 August. With Reign of Sands, the game is supposed to get a second wind of success, through new areas, an overhauled tutorial, new writing, casting and several quality of life changes.

Pullup Entertainment – formerly Focus Entertainment – and Frankfurt developer Deck13 are announcing a big update for the German Computer Game Awards 2024 nominee game Atlas Fallen. The big update is supposed to serve as an almost addon under the name of Reign of Sand. Focus promises new quests, new gameplay features, new enemies as well as an overhaul of the first ingame hours to better onboard and captivate players. The game world will also be bigger and include new locations, the publisher ensures. The update is supposed to go online on 6 August, free for all owners of the base game.

Specifically, Pullup mentions: “New quests, new gameplay features, new essence stones, a new environment, the addition of new game plus, tweaks to the casting and writing of the main story and an overhaul of your initial hours in our sun-drenched world.” Interestingly, the writing and casting had received some lauding by critics in its German and English versions, so the changes to them will be interesting to see. To GamesMarkt Deck13 clarified that the casting changes are specifically part of the English version of the game, not the German one.

"Our team is grateful for the opportunity to develop Atlas Fallen further and offer players a significantly revised version. We have listened to the requests from the player community and made many improvements that we hope will help players enjoy the game even more,’ says Jan Klose, Creative Director of Atlas Fallen.

"Reign of Sand reflects our promise to make Atlas Fallen an even more immersive and dynamic gaming experience with greater accessibility," says Ahmed Boukhelifa, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Pullup. "This free update shows our confidence in the game and therefore offers extensive new content that both old and new players will enjoy." The publisher had previewly expressed disappointment with the sales of Atlas Fallen.
