Plaion has announced the dismissal of an unspecified number of employees via its social media channels. Crystal Dynamics is another company in the Embracer group that has been affected.

Plaion did not provide any details about the extent of the lay-offs. The social media post merely stated: "Today, we had to make the difficult decision to realign certain areas of our gaming operations, affecting a number of talented colleagues across several departments and locations."

According to Plaion, the decision was not an easy one. It also in no way reflects the talent, dedication or contribution of those affected. Even though no further details were given, it seems likely that the departments responsible for marketing and publishing are primarily affected, possibly also the administration. After all, Plaion's social media post states that the studios and Plaion Pictures, which is responsible for the film business, are not affected by the changes.

Meanwhile, it is becoming apparent that the measures at Plaion are not an isolated case within the Embracer Group. Chrystal Dynamics has also published a similarly worded statement. The studio, which was temporarily responsible for the Tomb Raider games, has, unlike Plaion, specified the number of employees affected at 17.

It is unclear whether there will be further layoffs within the Swedish group. In any case, there are no comparable announcements on the social media channels of other Embracer-owned companies such as THQ Nordic, HandyGames or Deca Games, which are based in GSA.
