Over 35 Million Pre-Registrations - Arknights: Endfield Has Launched
At 4 a.m., Arknights: Endfield by Gryphline was released. This wild mix of a story-driven anime action RPG and factory game, boasting AAA production values, racked up over 35 million pre-registrations on PC, PS5 and mobile.
With over 35 million pre-registrations, it's safe to say that there is a high level of interest in Arknights: Endfield. The game was released on 22 January 2026 at 4 am CET as a free-to-play title with in-game purchases, making use of a gacha system and a season/battle pass. It is available on PlayStation 5, PC via the official launcher and the Epic Games Store, as well as on mobile devices via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Gryphline: "To celebrate the global debut, players can claim an extensive array of rewards including sign-in bonuses and milestone rewards equivalent to at least 135 pulls across different banners."
The game is a blend of a single-player, story-based action RPG and a factory automation game with asynchronous multiplayer elements. It boasts very high production values, holding its own against Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail or Wuthering Waves. Set in a futuristic world, Arknights: Endfield features an original storyline set in an interconnected semi-open world for exploration (mainly on foot), real-time combat, and base building. Players command squads of up to four Operators, combining their skills and elemental synergies to execute coordinated tactics in fast-paced encounters reminiscent of the battles in Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth. The story follows Endmin, a guardian awakened from ten years of hibernation to lead Endfield Industries from the OMV Dijiang, an orbital headquarters in orbit around Talos-II.
On the planet, players utilise the Automated Industrial Complex (AIC) to design integrated production networks and power grids across multiple locations. Although it may not seem appropriate at first, the AIC is an important and integral part of the gameplay loop. This is where players produce gear, consumables, products and materials for outposts and constructions. Although it is not as complex as Factorio and Satisfactory, it is still complex enough, with optional tutorials, blueprints and more. Players must manage these facilities while defending the Civilisation Band from enemies and investigating the origins of the 'Zeroth Directive'. The PC version has a native 120 FPS support, as well as Nvidia DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation. The title includes plug-and-play support for both PlayStation (DualSense & DualShock) and Xbox controllers with haptic feedback.
Arknights: Endfield is the latest game set in the popular Arknights universe, a franchise that has exceeded 100 million downloads to date. The original Arknights is a free-to-play tactical RPG/tower defense mobile game in which characters known as 'operators' act as towers. It was developed by the Chinese company Hypergryph and was first released in China in 2019 before being made available worldwide on Android and iOS platforms. The game featured gacha mechanics as well as sophisticated lore and high production values. Subsequently, a Japanese anime television series comprising several seasons was released. Arknights: Endfield is a spin-off of the series.
"Bringing the Arknights IP into a 3D space is a huge milestone for me personally. Making that leap from 2D to 3D is no small feat as a developer, and from the start, we knew we didn’t want to make something that felt like everything else out there. Instead, we leaned into what we genuinely love playing ourselves, factory automation, and committed to seeing that idea through. It took a long time, and a lot of hard work, to turn that obsession into the Endfield you’re seeing today. I believe people support our games because they can feel the quality and the heart behind them. I hope you enjoy the experience, and I look forward to hearing your feedback as we continue shaping the game together." Light Zhong, Co-Founder & Director at Gryphline.
