At State of Play, Sony surprised viewers with the announcement of Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls. Square Enix is bringing back Final Fantasy Tactics, Capcom gave a sign of life from Pragmata, and IO Interactive showed the first trailer for 007 First Light.

Yesterday evening, one day before the Switch 2 launch, Sony Interactive Entertainment held a new State of Play event. The 40-minute show featured some of the upcoming highlights for the PlayStation 5. For Ghost of Yōtei, which is set to release on 2 October 2025, developer Sucker Punch Productions announced a special State of Play edition in July that will provide an in-depth look at the open-world adventure. Astro Bot from Team Asobi will receive five new levels and additional special bots, including Atsu from Ghost of Yōtei, available 10 July. A new Astro Bot Limited Edition DualSense wireless controller will also be released later this year.


PlayStation Studios, Arc System Works, and Marvel Games have announced Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, a 4v4 tag team fighting game set to release in 2026 for PC and PS5. Players will be able to battle as popular Marvel heroes and villains, including Captain America, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Doctor Doom, Storm, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Ghost Rider. Each character has a unique design developed by Arc System Works and a distinct playing style. Additionally, Project Defiant, Sony Interactive Entertainment's first wireless fight stick, has been unveiled. It utilizes PlayStation Link technology for low latency on PC and PS5. This custom fight stick for fighting games will be released in 2026.



Koei Tecmo Europe and Team Ninja announced Nioh 3, set to release simultaneously on PC and PlayStation 5 in early 2026. A demo of the dark samurai action RPG will be available exclusively on the PlayStation 5 until 18 July 2025.


Square Enix surprised viewers with an expanded version of the strategy RPG Final Fantasy Tactics, which is returning as Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles. The game is set to release on 30 September 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S. The game offers classic and expanded modes. The latter features a reworked script, fully voiced dialogue in English and Japanese, a modernized user interface, improved graphics, and additional dialogue between characters. Accessibility is increased with new features, including the ability to display the turn order, a tactical overview of the battlefield, fast-forward options for battles, automatic saving during battles, and customizable difficulty levels. Classic Mode recreates the original 1997 version of Final Fantasy Tactics, including the "War of the Lions" translation.


Capcom has provided an update on Pragmata, announcing plans to release the sci-fi action-adventure game in 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. During the PlayStation State of Play event, Vertigo Games unveiled Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow in collaboration with Eidos-Montréal and Maze Theory. This stealth game will be released later this year for PS VR2, Meta Quest 2, 3, and 3S, as well as for PC VR.

  • Mortal Kombat: Legacy Collection (Digital Eclipse / Warner Bros. Games) has been announced for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater (Konami) will still be released on 26 August 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A new gameplay trailer was shown.
  • Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound (The Game Kitchen / Dotemu) will be released on 31 July 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch and Xbox Series X|S.
  • The PlayStation Plus Classics catalogue will be expanded in the coming weeks to include Deus Ex, Twisted Metal III & 4 and Resident Evil 2 & 3.
  • Romeo is a Dead Man for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S is the name of the new (bloody) game from Grasshopper Manufacture.
  • Sea of Remnants (Joker Studio / Netease Games) has been announced for PS5, PC, iOS and Android.
  • Silent Hill f (NeoBards Entertainment / Konami) will be released on 25 September 2025 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
  • Sword of the Sea (Giant Squid) is coming to PC and PlayStation 5 on 19 August 2025.
  • Tides of Tomorrow will also be released on 24 February 2026 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
