TactiCon, the annual digital convention dedicated to strategy games, is returning in July. It is once again being organised by Hooded Horse and FireSquid. The first partners have already been confirmed. Furthermore, Hooded Horse is expanding its portfolio.

Strategy game publishers Hooded Horse and FireSquid have announced details of TactiCon 2025, the annual Steam-based event showcasing games from the strategy, management and simulation genres. The digital convention will take place from 17 to 21 July 2025.

"This year's sale will focus on the latest deals across many exciting strategy releases from the past year, as well as some of the best upcoming offerings the genre has to offer. A quick-fire showcase will kick off the event, with the sales page live on Steam throughout the week," the organisers said.

The line-up includes Firesquid's selection of strategy games, such as Reus 2, City Tales: Medieval Era, Becoming Saint and Xenopurge; a host of games and new releases from Hooded Horse, including He Is Coming and Every Day We Fight; and a new reveal for FireFly Studios' Stronghold Crusader: There will also be news from Fulqrum Publishing's New Arc Line, the next title from Othercide developer Lightbulb Crew, and the Steam debut of an upcoming turn-based roguelite.

Even before TactiCon 2025, Hooded Horse signed a new game, Aquila Interactive's Gilded Destiny, an upcoming grand strategy game set in the Industrial Age. The game features a hand-crafted map comprising over a million hexes that reflect real-world biomes and terrain types, as well as in-depth mechanics ranging from direct control of armies to free-form placement of new cities. Last week, the publisher signed Sandustry from Lantto Games, a side-scrolling pixel-art factory/automation game in which every pixel is a physical object destined to be mined, refined and combined into new elements.

"We're very excited to have the chance to support Aquila Interactive," says Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender. "We love grand strategy games, and Gilded Destiny is shaping up to be one of the most exciting titles in the genre."

"Partnering with Hooded Horse will gild the road ahead for Gilded Destiny, helping us to realize our vision for the game," says Aquila co-founder Kenneth Mei. "With its living world, deep military and economic systems, and extensive modding capabilities, we intend for Gilded Destiny to deliver a grand strategy experience unlike any other. Hooded Horse's approach is rooted in trust, transparency, and a commitment to bringing thoughtful, intricate games to a global audience, values that strongly align with our own."
