Electronic Arts Unveils Battlefield 6
Call of Duty is facing increased competition. Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have unveiled Battlefield 6. And the release date doesn't seem that far away.
Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios (Criterion Games, DICE, Motive Studio and Ripple Effect) have officially unveiled Battlefield 6. As well as the usual multiplayer battles, the shooter once again features a single-player campaign.
The game's storyline centres on Pax Armata, a private military corporation funded by former NATO countries whose plans could plunge the world into global conflict. The developers promise the series' signature blend of intense combat, large-scale battles, and freedom of play. Players will be able to destroy walls and buildings, and there will also be aerial combat. According to the publisher, it is the most ambitious title in the series' history.
On Thursday 31 July, a multiplayer reveal event will take place live with the developers from Battlefield Studios, starting at 8:30 p.m. Following the official livestream, content creators from around the world will share the first Battlefield 6 gameplay streams from events in locations such as Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris and London. Another event will take place in Hong Kong on 2 August.
Although no specific release date has been announced, the promotional material reveals that the pre-order phase will end on 10 October 2025. The last instalment in the series, Battlefield 2042, was released on 12 November 2021.
